Prosport Performance Stepper Motor Driven Gauges (like Defi)

Post by cantfindausername »

OK, as I've seen some interest on stepper motor'd gauges in the forum, I thought I would investigate the possibility of a group buy.

The gauges I have been investigating are Prosport Performance Premium Series Gauges. The gauges are 52 mm (2") Stepper Motor Driven, 270degree LED Display with Warning and Peak function.

________________________________

These are fully programmable to allow you to set the warning feature to either beep or change colour (or both) once the gauge reaches your pre-set limit.

270° dial sweep provides quick one glance accuracy. Track tested and race proven these gauges use precision electric senders to keep hazardous fluids out of the passenger compartment.

All of the Premium Series gauges perform a dramatic opening ceremony with a full pointer sweep each time the vehicle is turned on AND off.

These are very easy to use, all programming is done from the front push button!

Simply wire up the first gauge for power and daisy chain the power to each gauge as needed! As only Prosport would do, the Daisy chain power leads come with them! Nothing more to buy. "We don't need no stinkin' controller"

________________________________

Gauges available are:
Boost Pressure (-30~30 PSI) $79.50
Oil Pressure (0-110PSI) $99.00
Oil Temp (100-320 deg. F) $69.99 - will ask if we can get these in deg. C
Water Temp (110-320 deg. F) $69.99 - will ask if we can get these in deg. C
Fuel Pressure (0-110PSI) $103.00
EGT (0-2500 deg. F) $109.99
Volt $67.99

They also do Oil Filter Adaptor Plates that have 2 x 1/8" NPT fittings so would make fitting oil pressure and temp gauges a doddle! - however, someone would need to check that the fitting on the MR2 is 3/4UNF-16 thread. These are only $33.99

The website for these guys is http://www.prosportgauges.com/ if anyone wants to check them out to see images and other products that I can send enquiries about. They might offer discount on other things if they're all ordered up together.

Bare in mind that the process stated above are un discounted, and in Dollars, so with the Pound being strong against the Dollar, this really is a good time to get buying and save even more!

Postage:
I have briefly discussed this with the guys at Prosport, and we're looking into what will be the cheapest option available to us.
Initial thoughts are to have a single consignment sent to me, which I then distribute out to the buyers.
The postage cost will be investigated as close to and before the order is placed so with a bit of luck, there will be no increase.

The dreaded:
This order will be coming from the USA, so there is the possibility of getting stung for VAT (17.5%) & Duty (10%)
Now I have been lucky in the past with not getting caught, but I have also been hit with the full whack. Its purely a case of being prepared for it.

Discount:

A basic GB is for an order of 20 gauges and this gives a 10% discount. 40 gauges gives 15%.

So basically we need a few people wanting a few gauges.

If we can get names down with the gauges you're interested in so we can get an initial count going that would be great.

I'll start the ball rolling.

All in all guys & gals, this is a great opportunity to get some awesome looking gauges that appear to be of a very high quality and a very close resemblance to a much more expensive product.

If the group buy doesn't work out, I personally will still be ordering my gauges.

Any questions or suggestion feel free to drop me a line and I will pass them on to Prosport.

Thanks,
Ant

Yeah thats cool.

I'm assuming that all the gauges they list on the site will be available for discount, but as the initial interest was in just the stepper ones, I listed those above.

We're mainly after numbers at the mo to see if we can get something sorted. Then we'll get specifics once the numbers are up.

Ok non stepper gauges and other products are available at a mirrored discount. So might be worth getting those Filter adapter plates in!

Gauges however only coming in Degrees F due to being American stock. Also think the boost gauge is only in PSI.

1. cantfindausername (poss. 9 gauges)
2. naughtydog (3 gauges (Boost,OilT,OilP)
3. 2drift (2 gauges, Oil Temp & Oil Pres. [in deg. C if poss] Both in WRX Green/White, Oil Filter Adaptor Plate)

5. draz1k (Boost,OilT,OilP)
6.
7.
8.

Please copy and paste with adjustments if required.

Thanks,

Degrees Fahrenheit, that's a bit ghey, but my gran would have loved it 8-[

As you know I'm a bit of a dunce so gonna ask a dunce question: I assume I need a filter adaptor plate seeing as I want to monitor the oil pressure and temp? I've put myself down for one anyway...

Dunce, measuring them both from there will be fine.

I've got a GReddy one from way back when, and I will be sticking the temp one here before later moving it to the sump or oil return pipe. Only reason I'm not running the pressure from there is cos the other fitting is fused in place and I cant get it out

So, I made up some piping to move the stock and after market pressure sensors away from the engine as the after market ones tend to be too large for the stock location, and this is all taken off the stock location.

You'll see what I mean one day when I can bring it out to play.

I'll probaly stick an adapter plate down on my order for ninas car as half the gauges are for hers.

As for meaqsuring in Deg. F... once you've noted what the norm is, you'll soon recognise where the gauge should be.. and panic when its not

Measuring them from the adapter plate will be fine.

Its not the most accurate way to measure, but it will give you a much better idea than what you currently have.
