All bits Carbon Fibre

Post by V8Killer »

All,

i am planning on having a few parts fabricated for my car in Carbon Fibre over the next few months. I have found an exceptionally good manufacturer of carbon fibre bits. I visited his factory on Saturday evening and to say his work was excellent would be an understatment...his work was nothing short of exceptional. They do alot of Carbon Fibre work for race teams. This is proper Formula One style Carbon Fibre with a perfect weave. All parts come with a clear lacquer coat, however it can easily be painted. They can be painted for you, to your colour code for an additional cost.

The parts am interested in having made up for my car are as follows:

Full Dash (yes the entire dash)
Boot Lid
Rev 3+ Spoiler
Engine Lid
Passenger / Driver doors
Gearbox tunnel (interior)
Dashboard trim (heater, stereo, ashtray area)
Toms skirts

Other parts which i am willing to do are as follows:

Greddy style lip
Border vented hood
T-Bars

I am literally willing to have any part made up in carbon fibre, however to keep cost down, they'd need to do a production run of atleast 10-20 to make it cost efficient.

At the moment am just trying to gather interest here so i can go back to the contact and get a firm price.

The sooner the interest is generated the sooner we can kick this off and the sooner they can make a start. They reckon turn around time can be 2 weeks max.

If genuine interest is shown i am willing to even buy an old Rev 1 NA to have all bits made up of carbon fibre, front/rear arches, rear bumper, side skirts, etc etc.

So come on, who is interested :)

Please don't PM me...please post here.

Cheers

I was hoping you'd come along and say that

If you can try and generate interest on the Mk1 forum that'd be great.

Ok so far we have the following:

2 x boot lids
1 x Rev 3 spoiler
1 x engine lid
3 x doors
4 x gearbox tunnels
3 x dashboards
1 x toms skirts
1 x t-bars

We need atleast 10 of each item to make this happen. I don't mind covering deposits to make this happen.

Remember this is high grade Formula One carbon fibre with a perfect weave.

I was considering just the trim pieces originally, but i've also added to the orginal post the FULL DASH (the entire dash area).

Good News...Progress

I just sent a picture of the transmission linkage tunnel since that seems to be the most popular part at the moment along with approximate dimensions and they reckon they'll be able to do that section in carbon fibre for in the region of £250 - £350.

Considering, this is F1 style carbon fibre i was expecting the price to be a lot lot higher.

He said he'd prefer to have a 10% deposit, so those of you who have shown interest, would you each like to drop me a £35 deposit. This is a fully refundable deposit if things don't work.

PM me for my bank details / addresses for cheques / postal orders.

Told you things were moving fast :)

Lets get this rolling guys...i really want to make this happen so that we can move onto other CF bits.

Yup thats understandable...however, try and look at it like this:

The tunnel area is curvatured so its not as simple as moulding say a border hood. The amount of carbon fibre used is probably more the a carbon fibre border hood, which go for in the region of £300-£350, so you can see the costs associated will be similar.

Like i said, deposits are refundable. I am willing to cover 5 or 6 deposits to make this happen, since once the quality of work is seen they'll go like hot cakes...am sure of it.

I am trying to get pictures of the Carbon Fibre work for their OEM cars just to give you guys an example.

The guy I've had working on mine has had no end of difficulty with the dash trim. I should have a first cut by the weekend with a bit of luck.

Some of the other parts would be interesting to see.

Doors and Dash's are available from Japan already. Would be good to see how the prices compare.

Who makes the full dash in Japan? Would be interesting to see pictures of it.

I know Ask Sports make the doors, but your paying through the roof for them, mainly cos of the brand.
