Hmmn, Pace radiator on a MK1...

Post by tonigmr2 »

Pictures cannot convey how sexy this looks in real life! :D 8)

Obviously mounting brackets will be made pretty, it's just loosely mounted for now...(note the twin fans behind too!)

And on the right just a peek at a custom airflow design that's going to improve downforce immensely...once the chassis has some new holes in!

Is engine cooling a problem on the Mk1 ? or had the old one rotted away that an improved one would be the way forward ???

Can only improve things if you've got a better cooling medium.

I stand corrected, should have looked properly. I have done mine in the last fortnight when sticking in a new rad.
Looks very good though. 8)

I sandblasted em and sprayed em up with smoothrite. Look alright considering the state of em in the first place. Could have got em powered, but didn't want to wait for a week or so to get em back.
Also repainted the fan cowlings, that wasn't so much fun.

thats one sexy looking rad toni but as you know im currently running a V6 3.0ltr through a stock mk1 rad and the temp never moves from where it did before when it was 4a-ged,indeed i ran the 3s-gte through a stock rad as well. There are no cooling issues at all on a mk1 no matter what you do in the engine dept, the system is super efficient with those long pipes running the length of the car so i dont think its needed.......looks amazing though! how much is one of them?

LOL Paul, just repeat to self - Toni is a tart, Toni is a tart...then you'll see where I'm coming from! :D (edit: part of the aim of doing this MK1 project is to max out on everything!!)

One of these beauts is £600 notes. I don't expect any major cooling issues from the TC especially since I'm going the custom CC route, but don't want to find out it's an issue later. Plus it gave me a good excuse to get rid of aircon rad and loose weight!

With all that ducting coming up through the front of the car, are you going to have room for the spare?

Is that going to help?

There will be room for the spare bizarrely.
However, I won't be able to have a normal tilting bonnet. Since I've got a fibreglass one I'll be pinning it down in the four corners instead I think.
