Cosmos blue Rev 5 Gen 4 Turbo

Post by sinjen »

With regret the time really has come to sell my Gen 4 (GEN not REV) converted Uk cosmos blue Rev 5 (1998, S reg). Genuine reason for sale.

She started life with a standard 3sge but didn't stay that way. Ultimately, the plan was always to transplant a different engine in, mainly due to a lack of decent factory turbos around. It had to be a special engine though, something a bit different but not too different that it would detract from the original feel of the car. The 4th generation 3sgte was developed from the already legendary 3rd Generation 3sgte as found in the last Mr2 turbo/Celica GT4's.

A stronger block, completely reworked head design, mani/turbo combination, OBD2 and coil on plug to mention just a few of the changes.

265bhp as standard (compared to the Gen 3's 245bhp), it is a rocket ship. The turbo kicks in strongly at 2000rpm and pulls to the redline (7250).

The bodywork is in very good condition for a 19 year old car. The usual age related marks that should be expected and comes with an extensive full service history. FTSH up to 50k and then entrusted to a renowned Mr2 specialist thereafter.

Recently passed its MOT along with a full service.

The odometer reads 86500, the engine swap occurring at 80k miles.

I only know of 3 other Mr2's with the Gen 4 in Europe, one in Germany, one in Holland and one in Ireland, so this is the only one of its kind in the UK and the only Revision 5 with this engine, possibly worldwide.

Engine

Gen 4 3sgte from the ST215 Caldina
E153 Gearbox with LSD
3" custom downpipe
Departure Pro exhaust
Fuellabs FPR
4 brand new coils
GTS Chris IC shroud with Spal fan
OS Giken twin plate clutch and flywheel (TS2B - £1500)
Apexi Induction kit
AEM Wideband A/F ratio kit
Greddy Profec OLED EBC

Chassis

Yellow Bilstein B6 dampers
Apex springs
Whiteline ARB's
Brand new Toyota drop links
Polybushed
HEL braided brake lines (in purple of course)
EBC red stuff brake pads front
EBC green stuff brake pads rear
CRN grooved zinc plated brake discs front
Cusco front strut brace
Standard turbo rear brace

Wheels:
17" Lenso D1r in Bronzey brown
8" front, 9"rear
Falken fk452 rear tyres with good tread
Front tyres have good tread

If I were to keep her I would consider a front end respray (mainly the front bumper), just because of the stone chips and the odd scrape. I've managed to curb one of the rear wheels too, frustratingly. None of this detracts from the car.
Because of an MOT repair in June (you can just about see the repair patch in the photos), I'm having the sills inspected and rebuilt next week (sept 11th - 13th). More for peace of mind on both sides.

This car is genuinely lovely to drive, very tight, a real head turner and very fast.

Test drives are welcome if you're a serious buyer but only with over the phone proof of insurance, otherwise I'll be driving
This is a very rare setup and the engine is a beauty with scope for a lot more power.

No timewasters please, genuine enquiries only. I am not desperate to sell this car.

PM or message 07736319207.

Stunning car. I almost bought it the first time you put it up. Was a toss up of yours or the one I eventually bought. Then you saw the light and kept it which made my decision easier.

GLWS :thumleft:

PS. Just out of curiosity, how did you find the TS2B on the road?

Hey mate, thanks :thumleft:

TS2B is easy in traffic (I live in the city centre!), almost like an OEM clutch and is vicious on the launch, just grabs and goes. The lightweight flywheel means it spins up fast too. Lovely clutch and, I think, good for 500+ :)

Now up on Pistonheads

A few people have organised to see the car but haven't turned up. I genuinely don't mind, we're all busy, things come up etc. If I could just ask you to ping me a message to let me know, I'm more than happy to rearrange :thumleft:
