My story so far

Post by Matsumoto »

So with £400 pound in my back pocket i was on my way to london to buy (if everything was correct and accounted for) a 93 Rev 2 Turbo T BAR in black. Why £400 quid? it had a "possible overheating problem" and a few other minor things....but i thought for 400 quid even with a head gaskett gone its worth it as im doing all the work myself.....and it came with a spare head.

On arrival i was very happy and got a lot more than what i expected for my £400 pounds The car was filthy and the inside looked like a 5 year old had been let loose to see how much trim they could pull off and wreck the inside in 1 hour! Plus there where a few other problems like no speedo and the clutch bearing is on its last stand.....

But i wasnt discouraged and new with a good clean and a polish she would look great and the car ran fine and everything worked......except the aircon.

And on getting her back to my friends to inspect further found a whole list of mods which he failed to mention...

These include

Adjustable rear anti roll bars
HKS FCD
Front mounted After market strut brace
Gymkana suspension
Raybrig headlights with wiring kit
Blue Flame back box with De Cat
hydaulic engine lid strut

And these were extras to the stuff he told me about..

New pads and discs front and rear
New Caliper
Turbo Timer
Pillar mounted turbo gauge and volt metre
Good head
Rev 3 rear lights

So all in all am happy and will update the story further as i can.....its been a year lol

Well you've made your 15 posts, time to get those photos up so we can see what your £400 bought - it certainly sounds promising :thumleft:

Can't grumble for £400. Looks good. I'd put that front number plate back in the stock position though. You're blocking off air flow through the radiator.

+1 Scrubs up well and for £400...

I also agree a "UK" style number plate in that location isn't doing engine cooling any favours and going back to stock position would tidy the front end up. Personally I prefer the import plates to the UK ones, but that's just me.

It's amazing what you can pick up for so little. I hope you put it to good use.

Thanks guys and there not even the pictures where I polished her up :) i actually forgot to take pics after the soapy wash and wax...

But the story continues....

So after the initial clean up all seemed well and I was very happy. After a 2-3 months of driving I was taking my GF to the airport and she finally started to overheat. I wasn't surprised as was expecting it too, but not on the way to the bloody airport lol.

I managed to bleed her at a services and she was ok....air in the system. Drove around for another couple of weeks and then she went big time. Steam everywhere but luckily only 2 mins from my home so got her back and walked away....I had no money to repair her at this point so for another month she just sat at home...looking sorry for herself.
