Gauging Interest: NW Cars & Coffee+

Post by Big_Martin »

Having seen footage and photos from some of the Cars & Coffee events in the US, it’s something I’d really like to try in the North West.

The idea is fairly simple: an early morning, weekend meet at a coffee shop. All very civilised and friendly. Chat to like-minded people over a coffee (other beverages are available) and pastry, have a look at some nice cars.

My stumbling block has always been a venue, but I now I have a plan!

So, here’s what I’m thinking…

Meet at Costa Coffee, Cheshire Oaks (CH65 9HD) from 8.30am on a Sunday. There’s a big car park right outside the door and the shops don’t open until 11am (except Costa, which is open at 8.30). That gives us a couple of hours plus for chatting and tyre kicking, after which time, those who want to can head down into North Wales for a bit of a drive.

No dates planned yet. But, if successful, it’s something I’d like to do maybe twice a year in, say, spring and late summer.

So, what do you think?

Excellent, so a bit of interest then. :thumleft:

Also had some interest from Skyline Owners and Civinfo (Civics), so I'll have a look at some dates and post up a thread. Might have a crack at the 350Z club too...

Right, I've had a test run of the route I was thinking, and it's looking pretty good I think.

Here's a slightly uninteresting video of some bits of the route : http://youtu.be/_iaIcvxbWgo

As for a date, I'm thinking 18th May. Meet from 8.30am and set out for the drive at around 10.30am. The route starts on M53/A483, so plenty of time for everyone to catch up after the lights and roundabouts near Cheshire Oaks, then some decent A roads with a few stops for photos etc.

As long as there isn't a unanimously negative response to this date, I'll start a new thread at the weekend. :thumleft:

OK, so I've started a thread for the meet/drive. It'd be great to get a decent turnout! :thumleft:
