Gas rams

Post by Maverick9999 »

Hi there,

As a result of another post regarding gas rams for the engine lid / front bonnet, Claw (member on this forum) has posted some good feedback on a supplier in Canada who does these kits.

On ebay:

Hood prop: 200603266795

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200603266795? ... 2001wt_932

Engine prop: 200512884961

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200512884961? ... 2312wt_932

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a group buy for this item? If I can get an idea on numbers I can enquire on price with the seller. I don't know what works best in getting the items to the respective people once it gets to the UK so any advice on previous group buys would be helpful.

Thanks! :thumleft:

Can confirm i brought the engine lid/hood gas ram and it was easy to fit and was really good quality.

Dealing with the seller was easy really helpful chap, item was insured incase of damage or lost.

Took 10 days to arrive from Canada

Overall :thumleft:

p.s am interested in the bonnet gas ram kit price depending :D

I'm actually going to Canada next month as luck would have it. I wonder whether I'm allowed to buy a couple of kits and bring it back in my luggage...

Yes I'm interested in getting both kits.
When would this be taking place?

Hopefully the hood kit isn't the same as the one I got a few years back, where you had to space out the wings or have your bonnet distorted due to the diameter of the gas rams!

Not really, I bought mine 2nd hand from a member on here who'd never fitted them. The auction does say:

Specially designed for your MR2 with the correct gas pressure and clearances to prevent front hood damage.

Which is reassuring.

Hi guys,

Great to hear interest in the kits, I'm new to the group buying scene and am wondering how people sort this out... does one person take payment from everyone and then purchase in bulk and then sent it out to each member? is there a meetup to dish out who bought what? Any pointers would be appreciated...

Will wait to end of week to see final numbers and contact the seller...

As for times, I presume it will be happening in the next fortnight if I can sort things out...

I've bought the engine gas ram, and I think from the same person.
Works alright indeed, and the guy is friendly also.

Except 1 heads up for the hood one.
Those ball sockets need to be flat ie rounded off.
Not totally round as the normals ones.

I got a hood pair as well, 2nd hand from some where else, and those are flat as well.
Otherwise there won't be clearance with the wing and scratch and rust.

Don't know if it works that way.
Mine were "pre-flattened"
