Server Disk Failed : Site Slow/ phpBB Critical Errors - 3,4 July

Folks,

We've lost one of the two disks that the IMOC server runs from, and until we get that swapped out ( I'm expecting Monday 4th, or Tuesday at the latest ) you may find the site at times running very slowly, or even not responding and giving errors such as :

Could not connect to the database

More news as we get it ...

More site downtime this morning was related to this failure.

We're talking to our hosting providers and looking to swap the disk some time today, which will mean the server will be unreachable for upto 30 minutes, and then slower than normal for the following 4-6 hours as the RAID array rebuilds.

OK, new disk went in at 1pm and the RAID array rebuild has been happening since.

Guessing that there are still some issues? Had a page generation time of 81 seconds, and then another of 3-4 seconds....

Server is back to normal now, so 81 seconds is excessive. Normally, I find pages take under 1 second to generate ( eg this one took 0.14s ) and most pages should be under 2-3 seconds apart from peak times ( Lunchtime, early evening ).

If you're regularly seeing load times of more than 10 seconds, can you note the URL, time/date and post it up here so I can take a look?

What were you doing when you had this long page time - would you happen to be looking at one of the long discussion threads in OT by any chance?

Just happened again, loading the site up from fresh (from a bookmark)

Only had Amazon running in an extra tab. The page took 77 seconds to generate.
