4th Official SW20 Big Brake Adapter Kit Group Buy - gauging interest

Post by cantfindausername »

Had a few names crop up on the other thread stating interest so figured I'd get somewhere for it to be put officially.

Same goes as before....

This is the 4th Official Group Buy Thread for the Big Disc Conversion kit that I've designed.

Please ensure that you read, and acknowledge back to me that you have read and agree to the disclaimer, if you decide you would like to be included in the Group Buy. This disclaimer will also apply when goods are received by you. If you do not acknowledge your agreement you will not be included in the Group Buy.

Below is some information on the Big Disc Conversion kit:

- The Adapters will be CNC Machined from 6061 Billet Aluminium.
- The Adapters will then be Hard Anodised.
- Once the Adapters are complete, the kit will be sent out via Parcel Force to those who have purchased. (Non UK address will be Royal Mail Tracked & Insured)
- The full kit will comprise of:
2 x Front Brackets.
2 x Rear Brackets.
2 x Rear Disc Centering Rings.
Required Mounting Hardware.

If you don't require the whole kit you must clearly indicate this. Please state whether you require FRONT ONLY, REAR ONLY or FULL KIT.

I will leave this Group Buy open until the required number of names has been collected. Once all names are in I will contact you for a Delivery Address, and to arrange payment of the kit. All money will need to be recieved before the order is placed. I will keep participants up to date as production progresses.

Previous prices for the kits are:

FULL KIT : £180
FRONT ONLY : £95
REAR ONLY : £105

Please Note: GB Prices quoted are for UK Delivery only.

European is an additional £17.50
Worldwide is an additional £30.00

These costs are for Tracked & Insured delivery.

I am hoping to match this price, but will have to speak to the Machine Shop to confirm once the numbers are in.

To complete the Big Brake Conversion you will need to source the following:
1 Pair of Toyota Supra Twin Turbo "UK Spec" Front Discs (324mm) - use 1995 for part search - Guide Price: £149.50
1 Pair of Mazda RX8 "Sport" Front Discs (324mm) - use 2005 for part search - Guide Price: £112.65
Note: Some Motor Factors list them as 323mm discs and you will probaly be able to find them cheaper if you know where to look.

Disclaimer:
Any problems with parts and fittings purchased and received will belong to the individuals participating in the Group Buy.
No liability is placed on me, Anthony Onions or the Manufacturing Company, CC Precision Engineering.
This modification has been designed for, and is in use on my own car. The kit has not been, and will not be road tested prior to the purchase of the parts, fixtures and fitting so any liability of any kind will be the responsibility of the individual purchaser. Any adjustments required will also be the responsibility of the purchaser.
Details of my MR2 can be found on my website, dated 19/6/09.

My observations for which I am not liable:
A very small clean up of casting marks on the Caliper mounting points may be required.
The Rear Caliper Mounting points require modifying to fit the Adapters.
The Dust Shields will need to be trimmed or manipulated to allow fitting of the Discs.

I will start the participant list in the next post. Please copy and continue this list in your own post.

Thanks,
Ant

Here is the kit that you would receive:

 Thats all good mate. If we get the numbers for the GB to go ahead and I can afford to do it I'll pay to get an extra set made up and hold them for you. :thumleft:

thanks mate appreciate it :thumleft:

*edit

nooo! ive just read over the previous threads.. i have 16"s for track days ](*,) will they no way fit with 16"s or could there be a possibility depending on alloy style? i heard some give better clearance?

if anyone who has these could measure the longest radius point on the caliper fr and r it would be a great help :thumleft:

To be honest dan, it's pretty close even on 17's

Front on 17's

Granted, not the best design of wheel for brake clearance but even my new wheels to go on are close.

hmm, does look close :-k

16s are only 1/2" smaller on the radius though :-k

then again, do my alloys look that friendly space wise, i dont think so :( (yet to be refurbed  )

Does this just use the standard calipers then? Just different discs? I could be interested:)

Dan, I tried them on some Sparco 16's and they didn't fit, but then they had a big inner lip. As I've never seen them with 16's fitted I couldn't confirm 100% either way, can only say what I've seen.

This is the clearance on my rear 17's, but notice the size of the inner lip also.

tarmac, from the feed back I've had, people have been impressed with the added bite this kit offers. The extra radius of the disc makes a significant improvement especially from high speeds. The needle drops pretty quick from 140 believe me! I've yet to use them on track but I do plan to eventually. I know other people have used them on track and had nothing but good words to say. 8)

Sheppy, the kit uses stock calipers and lines. Braided lines are a worthwhile upgrade while you're messing with the Brakes, but not essential.

Mousey, about 5 full kits are needed before the Machine shop will accept the order. I'm off on holiday at the end of this week (depending on Volcano and Strike action), so would look at letting the GB run at least until I return.

Ross, any reason why you'd just be after a front upgrade? Just wondering as its normally a rear only upgrade thats done if using different calipers on the front. You got different plans for the rear? If not then I'd recommend the full kit to avoid offsetting the brake balance.
