MR2 VS WRX RA version

Post by Al-sw20 »

Here I was having a quiet sunday in the winter when the owner of this wrx ra has a wee laugh at my 'standard' mr2. We both look at each other at the lights and hes grinning like a cheshire cat thinking this is gonna be an easy win for the mighty subaru.....

The lights go green and we are off, the wrx nails me on the start while i haze the bags all thru 1st and 2nd, he had 4 car lengths on me by the end of 2nd gear!

Grab 3rd and what do ya know....im reeling him in :D side by side now i chop into 4th and just start to nudge ahead, put my nose a hair infront and the race was won by the mr2

The result was a slower run than usual

That run was on about 15psi in the freezing cold. ct20b, aussie downpipe, 3" exhaust, toms panel filter.

I've trapped 110mph in 30 degree heat with 18psi.

Best run to date is 12.750 @ 109.22mph, 1.987 60ft

its a '91 gen1 turbo with stock 14s and 205s on the back

seems very fast for not too many mods, you must be running 330bhp or something?

Dynoed 253hp @ rear wheels on 16psi. In theory (1psi = 10hp roughly) my race boost level of 18psi should show 270hp + @ rear wheels.

Not interested in flywheel guesstimates :)

al, I thought you broke the car and putting it away for a while ? or couldn't you resist ?

Still doing alright down the track, I guess you being conservative with the rebuilt / replacement box ! =D> :eye:

So circa 310 at the flywheel then!?

Yeah 310 fly hp sound about right.

BTW it gets run on leaded 100octane at the track and dyno =P~
