Was sat at the lights to go straight on last night and this chap in a blue mk2 GT pulls upp behind me... He clocks its an old A reg car so he creeps up by me in the left hand lane, thats the one on the left to turn LEFT.....
I look across and his girlfriend looks over and i give her the wink....
I engaged my line lock and did a small burnout, about 20-30 seconds letting the torque of my 351ci windsor V8 do its job, letting the revs drop too about 900 rpm, Mr2 driver now looks a little worried, he he....
I politelly motion to him, after you sir and let him get about 3 cars ahead then i angage drive and im past him, but,...he still keeps trying....
I turn off into heath and reach, he carries on...... whats the point, ive got nearly 400 horses and the torque to match.
Aint no substitute for american muscle!!!!

I'll give you a go, and there's plenty of cars on here that would give an american oversized lump a damn good thrashing.

Are we talking curcuit or dragstrip? its not too good on a curcuit.

Im running constant twelves... Generally dont have much problem with modern stuff, but the those scoobies are snapping at our tailpipes latelly .

Mine at 310bhp was doing 12.8's, it's got more now so should in current spec be capable of low 12's now. Shows a 2lt car can keep with a fat old yank lump.

it allows you to lock up the front wheels, so you can then control the throttle & clutch like normal to light the rear wheels up.
Some t'interweb site wrote:A burnout is pretty easy to do, but its a lot easier with a line-lock. A line-lock allows you to lock the front brakes independently of the rear brakes, so the car stays put while the tires smolder. The device is basically an electric solenoid, controlled by a switch on the shifter. With the brakes applied, the driver depresses and holds the switch, then releases the brake pedal. The solenoid holds pressure in the front brake lines and releases the rear brakes, which makes burnouts a breeze. Releasing the switch releases the front brakes and allows the car to come gradually out of the burnout.

No mate, that was my wedding aniversary, no racing allowed then .
Tell me which one it was and i can probably tell you whats powering it.
loads of friends go up there, if you see a black mk1 pre facelift capri With two holley 4 barrels out the top of the bonnet and a huge pollished alloy scoop id recomend you stay well away, its got a 502ci 650 hp big block chevy motor and its not road legal being all spaceframed and so on, i think its just under 9 seconds.
Also have a friend who does the 4 cylinder street class in a yellow and purple mk1 with cologne arches.

I dont doubt it mate, one of the Harris brothers is running a mk1 escort with a pinto engine, heavily modded is running less than 12.8 seconds, thats no turbo, no injection, no nos and 8 valves only.
The damn thing wheelstands off the line, that engine started life in a cortina!!!!!
