Post by Markd1984 »

Hi all

After some advice, probably a stupid question however I am doing my first build on a rev 2 3sgte engine all standard just a hobbie really i have followed all the guides etc however when i turn the crank pully with a socket i noticed the force required is not constant it seems to ease off in places is this normal?

Yes, if you have the spark plugs in.

It will be one of the pistons on its compression stroke causing the resistance.

Ah thanks for the feedback muck appreciated.

I am also hearing air escaping from the flywheel side but that could be anything as their is still plenty to attach yet.

If the engine is operating as normal then yes, This is normal behaviour. Remember the valves are opening and closing as you turn the crank.
