Picked up my first MR2 tubby

Post by Essex MR2 »

How excited was I to go and pick up my first tubby? Very.

It was late at night when I finally got round to buying it and heading home so the roads were nice and quiet. Couldn't drive it quickly as my girlfriend was following in her Rover 200, but the drive was soooo much better than I'd expected. It was smoother, quieter and quicker!

The car has an SAFC (but that's not currently connected), other than that it's just a manual boost controller and a FCD, running 15psi. Still, it seemed pretty quick to me after my Escort RS turbo.

Anyway, got to within about 3 miles of my house when an accident occures in front of me
Couldn't stop in time, so swerved...... mounted the kerb ..... and came to rest against a handy post!! :( :(

It didn't feel too bad, so when I got out to check the damage I was completely gutted to find it had taken out the rear quarter and door, as well as, breaking 4 of the 5 spokes on the back rim completely off! The rim was pushed under a bit and I'm sure there's plenty of bent stuff underneath

So not the best first experience, but.... it is going to be repaired and hopefully it'll be back on the road and better than ever!

 Cheers, had a lot of interest in it, and it was sold and picked up within 3 days of being put on the net!

I do miss it, but it's not comparable to the tubby in any sense.

Can't wait to drive it again. :(
