i was, for three weeks, the very proud owner of-
rev 3 gt turbo.
38,000 miles,
t-bar,
standard throughout,
spotless,
pristine interior,
abs,
traction control,
1st UK owner.
i paid £6.5K.
four weeks ago.
the insurance company, after declaring a total loss, have jus offered me a 1st offer of £4250 (-£750 excess)
i have possibly never been so insulted in all my life.
the bird on the phone did agree with me though, she was an mr2 owner, she reckons they will definately give me more money..... jus thinkin now, that i wont get anywhere near the 6K i was hoping.
anybody got any write off stories?????

They always seem to do this....
Go back to them with pics of the car, ads from autotrader for similar cars, info from the importers and they should get back up to the amount you were insured for.
You going to get another ?

yep its basically a matter of playing the waiting game.
If you can hang on 3 months they'll start getting impatient and offer you more money.
Its probably not worth arguing with the loss adjusters as they play hardball and argue with people for a living.
You just have to sit out and pester the insurance company on a daily basis till you get somewhere near what you want.

the old one... as in my G-Ltd?? i traded that in when i got the turbo.
the turbo is going to salvage.
i will try to find out where it is going, then i can tell people where they can get their hands on some good bits, i.e. engine, wheels, recaros, etc etc etc....

I agree about the insurance companys my GF works for one and they will hold out as long as possible.
They want you to give in and accept their offers!!
Just keep your nerve and they should go up a fair bit but as has been said get some info about how much it should be worth!! That should give them a kick start!!
