Im just about to start buying all the parts i need to install as part of my forged engine build.
ive searched for 3sgte head/3sge block swap information but have only managed to find some info, but a few articles contradict the others.
Is anyone able to confirm precisely whats required for me to use a 98 3sge block, and the top/bottom end off my rev2 3sgte engine.
my thinking is ill need:
1. rev 3+ water pump
2. rev 3+ oil pump
3. rev 3+ cam belt
4. stock pan/crank from 3sgte
5. stock rev2 turbo head from 3sgte
6. rev 3+ headgasket to ensure MLS
have i missed anything, or got anything above wrong?
Thanks
Ross.

Rev3 head flows better than rev2 and is good for around 500hp

Sure, it just means buying more stuff ive already got. Id like to use as much as possible from my rev2 turbo engine. my goals around 400hp for now, Presume the rev2 head will be ok for that.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 3sgt3 engine - 3sge square edged block swap
why use a 3S block when the 5S block is more reliable and likely a better base for power / torque... just a thought Not sure how it bolts up to rev2 head etc but they use them in the states (and here) so must be possible

Purely because they're hard to come by. And requires a lot more work to make use of the 5s block. The cost of a 5s block would pay for my forged pistons on the 98+ square edged 3s block I've already got.

3s block is ideal for your goals man. Go full gasket set from hurley racing, Arp head studs, Toyota rev3 head gasket, oil pump, Water pump. Timing belt etc. 100% make sure your alternator is good before putting the engine in. An issue I'm about to deal with which is frustrating as hell because I'd have just bought a new one if I knew mine was goosed. In hindsight I should have just fitted a new one anyway
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 3sgt3 engine - 3sge square edged block swap
Mine is just run in using a 98 3sge block. Everything bolts up. You just have to sort out oil feed for the turbo and oil filter relocation as block fitting is different
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 3sgt3 engine - 3sge square edged block swap
Cheers guys. I've started sourcing rev3 engine bits. So plan is to build an entire new engine to swap in. Then sell my rev 2 turbo engine as a whole.

I used a mamba oil feed and return flange. Made things easy

Thanks dude. I've got an aftermarket turbo to install so I'll be going custom AN fittings I think.
See when I get there haha
