Snetterton 300 - 15th March £75 Open Pit

Post by HughesR1 »

I'm signed up for Snetterton on the 15th March with Opentrack if anyone is keen?

£75 for a full day which is dirt cheap!

That is cheap! Don't trust mine enough to do a track day at the moment, so many problems in the past few months.

I know the feeling mate, I'm a bit like that everytime I book on a trackday, just cross my fingers and hope for the best!

I think the day itself is cheap as its Friday Gold Cup @ Cheltenham and they always seem to have cheap trackdays when big events are on.

Well managed to mess up sorting out the mot which should've been done last weekend. Now it's too late for me to get the time off #-o

Little vid showing how slippy the track was in the morning, theres another vid on my channel when things got a bit more serious with an M3 and MX5 racer.

Was a fantastic day out, MR2 was faultless for the 5th time in row.

Damn, no way I'd be able to correct that oversteer even more so with the turbo haha.

Lol, thought that when I saw the video on Facebook. I do like the turbo, but I also miss the instant throttle response of the NA.

I do wonder if a K20A + Garrett G25 could be the best of both worlds :-k

The K20 swaps i've seen you have to hack the boot firewall because the turbo ends up on the opposite side. Best bet would be a 2GR i recon

most of them are big turbo builds so they're going to run a boot mount IC anyway. It'll physically fit without doing that (yes, I know this one is cut but that's primarily because the IC is in the boot):

Though routing the intake and intercooler keeping it all in the bay may be a challenge.

2GR is lovely, but I'm still quite fancying a revvy boosted L4.

I recon a nice built K24 motor would be more fun though

Indeed, I find the idea of a Honda NA, close 6 speed transmission, and getting the weight under 1000KG very appealing... Also very expensive!

As much as I'd love the extra power from the turbo its N/A all day for me, just for the sound and throttle response. If my 3SGE ever dies (doubt it however hard I try!) I might considering doing a 3SGTE swap.

I'm a bit of a Honda nut so the idea of a built K20 motor in an SW20 really takes my fancy but as said its no cheap build! Think I'd just put the cash towards a Lotus of a 2zzge S/C Mk3 MR2 build :-k. The other thing with the Honda motors is the bloody scene tax they carry, I was constantly worried when I thrashed my Integra as I knew how much a replacement or properly rebuilt B18C6/R would set me back. (Luckily I sold it before the drama occured  )

The Honda K's seem to be pretty solid in even tuned NA form... I assume you've seen the Hux Racing K24 build?

Oh yeah the K-series seem pretty solid aslong as they're looked after and built properly, problem is finding a K20 that doesn't burn oil in the first place lol.

The HuxRacing MR2 is the nuts! $$$ Though
