TBH, As much a physically possible before I would have had to go to bolt on
arches, heavily flared front & rear, and rolled completely flat. All done by a
profesional also ( Simon at Arch Enemy / Carson performance )

i was thinking it would be a good amount of work, Guy in the US i've been looking at his car running TE37SL's 17x9.5 et12 rears with 255's cannot understand how's he's managed it haha

I would expect he has set the suspension as hard as a rock and it still rubs
& handles not so good tbh, I was not prepared to start cutting into the shell
as it is mint all round and would have been irreversible, and thats then only
way to functionally go a much larger wheel size. Much like Mike from Apex
Attack has done.

Im running:

Front - Rota Torque's 17x8J et35
. Rear - Rota Torque Drifts 17x9J et30 ( 5mm spacers )
. Front - Yokohama AD08r 215/40/17
. Rear - Yokohama AD08r 235/40/17

And with the arch work carried out have no rubbing whatsoever, I had to use a slightly
Smaller tyre as the AD08r's have a reinforced sidewall and do not like stretch.
Im first and foremost about performance with form taking a close second place.

what carbon wrap are you using? removable? decent quality?

i thought about doing little bits, do you need to heat it to nicely go around tighter edges/corners?

Hi Jim

This was the stuff I ordered, Very happy with it, honestly difficult to tell the
difference between legit real carbon, of which I have a fair bit on the exterior
of the car, and this imitation wrap.

Yes, heat helps, but not too much, can make it to flimsy when applying.

Ill be ordering another roll for the new 12mm ply splitter.

So a little while since the original splitter broke, but I fixed it within a fortnight
First to arrive were the much stronger and built for purpose tie rods from
a dedicated Time Attack supplier.

Image

As you can see, these are made much thicker and from decent grade steel,
with much larger bolts + washers. Trial and error aye guys.

At the same time, a carpenter mate of mine, sourced some 12mm marine ply
thicker and stronger then the 9mm previously. I went for thicker as I noticed
that the 9mm was starting to get wavy due to the forces of air across it.
He made this exact to original using the 5mm splitter you might remember
I cut, originally due to be the carbon skinned splitter.

Then came time to test fitting, once I removed the damaged splitter I noticed
that the Alloy frame had marginally bent from the force of the tie rods braking
and forcing 130mph worth of "Mexican" air onto the whole splitter surface.
However this was only on the passenger ( left ) side of the car, assuming that
it was that tie rod that broke first ( it was )

As you can see below, its sat lower and angled forward a little.

Image
Image
Image

So I removed the bracket, and with the help of a mate, bent back into shape
using a vice & spirit level and refitted. Then bolted the new splitter up to place
to check fitment.

Image

It needed a little movement but very minor and was again perfect. Then onto
the Tie rods, I used the existing tie rod holes in the bumper and drilled new
ones for the bottom ends for the bumper. All in all a 5 minute job.

Image

To be honest though, the tie rods are nearly on full extension ( which I was
aware would happen when ordering ) but will be an easy fix to get more
strength. Using 6mm stud + joining nuts to create a solid unit. I aim to do this
next week.

So then removed from the car again and began to wrap, again in the Carbon
I previously ordered. I was a little nervous doing this myself as had help from
a mate who's very competent at using this, but with the help from my misses.
actually did a better job then on the original.

Image
Image
Image

Very happy with the result, but will finish off the tie rods before testing at
similar speeds as before.

He she is parked up in the garage she lives in. And a little walk around.

One other "Fix" that I did recently, that I aim to keep temporary is using left
over Carbon wrap to cover an unusual large split in the paint running along
the leading edge of my spoiler blade. This 8-10 inch lightning shaped split
appeared in the paint after a month of so of blistering heat in the U.K.
I'm assuming the fibreglass expanded and caused the crack potentially :-k

Anyway, to cover this I came up with the idea of creating a leading edge of
carbon. And to be honest I'm very please with my results ( Modest as hell me )
 anyway, the below two links show videos of my efforts.

1. With blade removed and just after fitting wrap
https://i.imgur.com/701NGVm.mp4
2. With the spoiler back on the car.
https://i.imgur.com/5bvZN4i.mp4

Now I'm not going to get into the habit of Carbon wrapping everything. I only
purchased this to cover the splitter in its inception to see how it performs on
the road and soon learnt it does occasionally scrape on our "Perfect" uk roads

But I have lots left over, and for "Temporary" fixes like this it works perfectly.
Especially as I have a reasonable amount of genuine Carbon on the car it
seems stupid to have a mix.

I have other plans for the spoiler for next year that will tie in with creating
downforce that Ive not ever seen done with a TRD wing before. :-$

Anyway, watch this space.

Haven't posted any progress in a while. Mainly because the cars been locked
up all winter. I don't think Ive driven it since early December.
However I'm finally looking into finishing of the engine build.

Spoke with TCB parts and since I last spoke to Paul, Garrett have released the
G25 series. So now looking at the below:

. Garrett G25 660 T4 twin + adapter
. Fuel Injection Clinic 1000cc Injectors
. Wahlbro 450cc
. Uprated Fuel Pressure Regulator

People are adversed to using T4 + Adapter, mainly because there are not any
off the shelf manifolds running that connection for when I go for one. However
Im pretty sure I'll be happy with the power figure this setup puts out.

And I could always have one made if I did want to increase.

Watch this space, I will most likely have her out this weekend for a drive.

Genuine questions..

Why go for FIC injectors over injector dynamics 1050x.. ID are the industry standard and provide injector data that others don't even get close to. There's plenty of good reasons Bosch Motorsport work so closely with ID.

Assuming you're buying a new tubular manifold, don't mess about with adaptors etc. The new G25 range is available with v band exhaust housings in .72 or .92AR. if someone is trying to sell you something else it's because they have it on the shelf or had a deal on it themselves.

Hi Mate

Paul at TCB had advised that he has a very good relationship and manages to
get a great price on them, FIC also use Bosch components supposedly. No
other reason then Ive been recommended them.

In regards to tubular manifold, its a price exercise. This is going to cost around
4k as it is, and if and when I decide to upgrade to a tubular manifold then
there are T4 options out there. "Full Race" make a T4 manifold to my
knowledge.

Hmm interesting,

Whats your power goal? 1000cc i suspect 500bhp?
When would you like boost coming in etc.

When i went from CT20B to a GT3076R, it was very frustrating so much so i changed to the GTX Gen 2 (Then Garrett decided to bring out the G25 series that year  )

Anyway what i'm trying to get at is make sure you'll be happy with the powerband not just the end power figure. A mistake a lot of us who build our engines make but rarely admit.

I've toyed with the idea of getting a manifold for my setup. However the thing that puts me off is the question of when the manifold will crack.

I got to my power goal with an adapter on my OEM manifold

Hi Bud

Yes, a power figure is not what I'm really chasing. More responsiveness. The
earlier the boost comes in the better tbh. If a number was to be pushed around
then yes 500bhp I would be more then happy with.

Tom @ Fensport said that the shorter length of the OEM manifold will actually
help with faster spooling also, and that they are tested to make up to 600bhp
without fail.

Im most likely going to use TCB for the parts, YVS for the fitting and Fab. Then
finally Fensport for the mapping.

Tom has tuned my car too, he and Adrian know there stuff.

I would say however to look into the G550 if quicker spooling is what you're after. That's more like the 3071 (old naming system of Garrett )

You can't get big power out of a 2.0 500bhp without lag imo.

Have you checked YouTube videos on the G25 series?

Yes seen a few videos, I'm not expecting NA responsiveness. just a nice trade
off, of Acceleration and Power. Looking into getting this started around mid
April.

I have some other Aesthetic plans this year also. But that will depend on the
level I spend finishing the engine lol !
