So my cars been sat for around four years. I now need to move it. It starts ok but the brakes are solid so it won't move. Was hoping the engine power would crack them. But no movement at all.
Can anyone give ideas of best way of moving the car?

Re: Seized brakes
clean the brakes up then try moving it. If the brakes are seized that bad you'll want to fix them before driving it or if trailering it prize the pads off the discs so the wheels will turn.
Re: Seized brakes
Don't want to go stupid with the revs and burn out the clutch.
I only need to move it to clear the driveway.

Re: Seized brakes
it will be the handbrake cables . disconnect them
Re: Seized brakes
So just disconnect them from the rear brake callers? It did feel when I applied the handbrake that there was no tension. I kind of assumed the cables had maybe snapped so would then disengage the handbrake as such.

Re: Seized brakes
The cables can suede but it is more likely that the hand brake mechanism on the calipers is stuck.
With the hand brake lever down chock a front wheel the at the rear caliper tap or lever the calipers lever back away from the cable pull direction . You may be able to do this with grips but they can rust solid.
If the piston and pads don't retract a little after turning the lever give the caliper a tap from the inside towards the outside parallel to the axle.
All this can be done laying on the ground going in behind the rear wheels.
