[Mk2] [Generic] ECU Capacitors

Post by dex »

Hopefully this may help someone else. When my engine started running roughly and not wanting to start I checked for error codes and found code no. 14 (No IGF signal to ECU 8 - 11 times in succession). Whilst looking for an igniter I came across various threads about the capacitors failing in the ECU so I checked mine and found capacitor C895 leaking with track damage to the PCB. Capacitor C816 had a minor leak just starting too.

Rather than replace the capacitors myself I found a PCB repairer in Sheffield ( http://www.nova-electronics.co.uk ) on the internet and sent my ECU to them along with the eight replacement capacitors listed in this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st ... ost7496164

The ECU was successfully repaired with the leakage neutralised and the damaged track fixed for under £100. As a preventative measure I had the other six capacitors replaced at the same time. Nova don't coat their repairs with conformal coating so I bought some acrylic PCB sealer (under a fiver delivered) and did that myself.

Rev 3 ecu electrolytic capacitors and suggested replacement part numbers. The replacement capacitors may have higher voltage ratings than the originals.

Main Board:
C002 = 63v 47uf - EKZE101ELL470MJC5S or EEU-FC2A470
C004 = 35v 33uf - EEU-FR1V330 or 100ZLJ33M8X11.5
C101 = 10v 100uf - 35ZLH100MEFC6.3X1 or EEU-FR1H101
C105 = 10v 220uf - UHW1H221MPD or EEU-FR1H221
C816 = 50v 10uf - EKZE500ELL100ME07D
C823 = 35v 15uf - EKZE630ELL150ME11D or UPW2A150MPD

Daughter Board:
C894 = 10v 100uf - 35ZLH100MEFC6.3X1 or EEU-FR1H101
C895 = 50v 10uf - EKZE500ELL100ME07D

Nova will source low ESR capacitors if you ask them to but they won't necessarily be the same as the ones listed in the Club Lexus thread.

I actually found it hard to find anyone to do PCB repairs, the 1st place had the ECU almost two weeks and with this good weather Id had enough so told them id collect it and find someone else to finish the work, 2 weeks for 8 capacitors is too long.

Anyway the work was horrible, blatently not a hot enough soldering iron was used. I found a new guy who would do the work and did it quickly for me as well. He also tidied up all the other guys work and the soldering looks like the originals.

I told him after id put his website up on here, If you end up sending your ECU to him he will know what to do at least. Was reasonably priced as well.

http://techmedics.co.uk/

(poole based but can always send the ECU) They normally repair xboxes, playstations etc... which is much more on the micro scale.
