[Mk2] [Turbo] What could cause this (video inside)

video is with bridged terminals.

The car smells rich, at Idle you can smell it from the exhaust, even after hard run
MPG is hard for me to get because I don't use the car often enough.

Also boost;
1st and 2nd generally ok, but can play up in 2nd, if you put foot to the floor, the boost controller shows 1.2bar but the poor isnt there and then suddenly it is. If you do it more gradual up to about 3000rpm and then floor it its more reliable.

A list of the things that have been done;

*ECU had leaking capacitor, had it changed and the other 7 as well
ECU had 3 errors, 42,47 and a TPS error

* Had a second TPS, tested it and setup all within tolerances (although first all appeared ok)
* new Lambda sensor (confirmed seeing reading now at diag port)
* coolant sensor within range (wasn't that old anyway)
* checked for vacuum leaks - with car up to temp, went around with can of easy start spraying areas, one very small leak - sorted
* timing checked

the only thing to note is one of the exhaust manifold studs is missing (the closest one to to the pipe on lambda sensor side) Ive felt and cant feel any air escaping or have the ticking noise you often here. It is the rev 2manifold with more stud thats than the 3 i think. Either way I dont think it would cause this issue, maybe the running rich but I dont think its leaking, infact ill spray with soapy water in a minute and see as its cold

It also use to idle fine, but as the video shows I suspect that maybe when it couldnt get the TPS, because as i show in the video plugging it in makes it idle really badly unless thats normal with ports bridged?

the video shows it with the ports bridged, my old engine / ECU never did this (Rev2) now a different Rev2 with Rev 3 conversion.

My next port of call is a new ECU because maybe its not working as expected. I don't have an ABS ECU etc... so the ECU gets no feed back from the speedometer as such. So I expect the engine light to come on at 50mph and rpm above 2500, but that isnt happening consistently either and that use to happen before the ECU was fixed.

I'm just after other opinions really on anything I might of missed.

As typical with anything...you post it and solve it.

I found the exhaust gasket between turbo and manifold leaking massively and why hadnt i seen it before.

Ive got a turbo blanket on so its was muffling it and sometimes clogging it enough to give me boost. I probably didnt notice the additional lag in the lower gears because you fly up the revs quicker.

Anyway Ive changed it (must be a nightmare in an MR2 as wasnt easy in the kitcar and now im getting boost, lower lag and not running rich.

I diagnosed it by spraying soap and water on the cold exhaust and it bubbled away, you dont have long before it starts to heat up.

Out of interest where did you get the new lambda sensor and what price?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-4-WIRE-O ... 2749.l2649

wired in and cost £13.

At that price I could just keep replacing it if it doesnt last. I already had an aftermarket one, so unscrewed it from the mounting plate and put this one in.
