Ordered my sheet steel. Need to make some cardboard templates then transfer it to metal.

In the mean time my silicone hoses came today. As well as my 3 fuel injector rail standoff washers.

Got the tank dropped today

This bu88er wouldn't undo so I ended up undoing the bottom of the fuel filter and a few bolts along the hard lines

Got the old pump out

New pump made and installed

Inside of the tank looks fine. And that crap wiped off the old pump. Going to drain/swill the tank with fresh fuel.

What an awful job just to change a pump. Worst bit is, I've no clue if it works lol.

Also. Snapped about 3 quarters of the undertray bolts. So going to have to drill them out and re thread them all.

Also used this opportunity to remove the air con hard lines down the whole length of the car.

Well. In the drizzle I got my fuel tank back In. It wasn't a nice job by my self. Getting the wiring through the center tunnel. Jesus Christ. I just kept swearing and got it done.

Image

I then got my new alloy radiator and shroud fitted. Electrical connectors need work. But that shouldn't be a problem.

Just waiting on a few parts to get my engine back in.

Feels great to start putting parts back on :thumleft:

Well my mate popped over and helped me get the gearbox on. Managed to do a bodge to get the flywheel done up. Oh and got the downpipe/turbo back on. Just got to re route the loom and reconnect the water/oil lines.

Image

Just to confirm. The water feed and drain is the same pipe at the bottom of the turbo?

Cheers

Well she's ready to go back in.

Image

A friend was supposed to be dropping in to help me get it back in the car. Sadly hes gone off radar so engines stuck in my garden ](*,)

Some of the pipework needs a tidy up /clean but I'll save that for next time when the forge build goes in.

I've got builders starting some work on my house early July. So I'm now on a tighter time frame than I'd anticipated.

Here's hoping I can get the engine back in early this week.

Looking very good, did you replace the ‘sugar cube' on the gear box?

quick google suggests i can just remove it and turn it 90 degrees. so may try that. failing that looks like its doable back in the bay. :thumleft:

well i attempted to get it all back together and during so wanted to change out my clutch line for the slave cylinder.

So....attempted to undo the nut that connects the flexi line from the slave cylinder to the cars body and the nuts welded in place with corrosion.

So engine start is on hold :-(

planning to identify the nut size/thread pitch and re-make a new hard line from front to back. Then once the slave cylinders on, ive just got to fit my new ht leads and king lead. oh and a new injector plug. then i should be good to go.
