Disclaimer: if there are any issues with my build its directly related to the manifold that came from Shirley Sue

Expensive when things go wrong but capable of low 11 second quarters with just a basic ecu flash says it all, cars have come on a fair bit over the years :oldtongue:

How's your two now ? Still thinking of selling her ?

Saw your car yesterday when i dropped my engine off. Turbo looks lovely and a lot bigger than before. And the car just looks mint.

Update?

What power did you get with the BIG turbo fitted? What boost etc?

How's the lag?

Hiya,

I should be picking the car up from the garage next Friday.

I wasnt happy with how the car was setup and wasn't as effecient as I wanted it for the boost it was running, and decided to have a well known Mr2 specialist give it a full health check, tweak, fiddle and fresh MOT.

It's now hitting estimated circa 500hp @ 1 bar, and final boost will be at 1.8 bar. Full boost hits at 5,200rpm which is normal for that frame turbo / cam / engine size.

This time it'll be back perfect, once and for all! 8) Couple of weeks and i'l l have a full update.

The car has been at Fensport and the guys have done an awesome job.

It's now finished and ready to complete. Finally after what seems a long build its time to say there are no niggles, nothing left to do and nothing wrong with it. She's been mapped to 1.6 bar and cams tweaked and dialled in and I'm getting her Friday.

To top it off a clean MOT for another year. CANT WAIT!

Hats off to Tom Hudson and the team who have spotted and fixed a few items - of course the real test is how it drives of course!

Going to be a long train journey Friday but hopefully a fun drive home.

Fensport only road map but they said they are very confident it's between 500-550hp which is bang on for the boost and what I wanted.

The car last hit 485hp on the Dyno with a few issues, cam timing not right etc so I'd think this should smash it. It's also now spooling 1000rpm faster so definitely improved all around.

Ive noticed that there are a lot of forged / half forged MR2 cars that have now come up for sale, even though I'm sure they're ok most have some questionable setup configurations. Makes me proud at least that I consider mine a clean and complete install. Gahhhhh hurry up Friday!!!!

oh and I accidently bought myself a late 5s block and crank....

Awesome man!!! Let's just call it 530bhp then!!! Oddly enough I've just basically been handed a GT35 turbo for mine! My clutch is only rated to 480bhp so my limit has always been that. You think a GT35 is too big for 480bhp?

Personally? Perhaps. I would say that a smaller turbo gives the midrange earlier and for 480hp a gt3076 would get you that nicely at about 1.8-1.9 bar and the spool was quite nice on that. If you're wanting more long term go for the gt35 or perhaps add a smaller exhaust housing for a few quid (aftermarket is fine) to zip you up faster. But for free you can't lose!

That's what I was thinking, Not free but £80. Got to be better than a ct26 at least. Looking forward to Friday for you mate!!! Get some vids up when possible :D
