Bi-Xenon Projector Head Lights

Post by J05MA5 »

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem=

Ebay item number 290526854089
I have been in contact with the seller, he initially gave me a guide price on these but says will offer a discount on 5, 10, 15 sets.
to start off the prices will be as follows:
5 - £62.31
10 - £58.92

The H4 8000K Bi-xenon Slim HID Kit includes
2 H4 8000K Bi-Xenon HID Bulbs,
1 Bi-xenon HID Relay Harness with Advanced Flex Control Unit,
2 Advanced A/C Digital HID Slim Ballasts

The above prices are without any discount and will include shipping to your door from the USA, confirmed by the seller. The reason the prices vary above is that the postage varies dependant upon how many you purchase.
Will update as soon as the seller contacts me.

Liked the intial price a lot :|

Are these definately legeal for UK use? MOTs? Blinding other people?

Dont have any experience with HIDs so any experience would be helpful :-k

I did too, thought it was a bit too good to be true.

The main reason I chose these is that the other HID kits you see, all use the original lens which basically just disperses the beam everywhere blinding everyone on the road [-( .
The difference with these is that they have projector lenses and should be 'closer' to OEM HID's rather that the non projector kits.
Another reason is that they have a dual function (Hi-Lo Beam) so should be ok for MOT, but I know that recently a requirement to have self adjusting (auto levelling) headlights for any HID kitted car is being rolled out (any further advice on this would be great).
So I couldn't say 100% that they will be MOT friendly, but with the Lo beam used I think they will be ok.

Seller has also updated with the discount:
5 - £ 87
10 - £ 75.30
15 - £ 74

The price above is per each set, quoted totals in USD are:
5 - $700
10 - $1220
15 - $1800

(I've just used an online calculator for the most current exchange rate)
Not sure how he calculated this discount but he has confirmed that it will include postage to our doors and all taxes etc...

Right i understand what your saying. If anyone knows anything about the possible MOT changes that might help the sales!

If you could find out if the lenses are E-marked it would also be useful :-k

As it's a US seller they wouldn't be E marked. Which isn't necessarily an issue, Raybrigs aren't E marked and plenty of people use them without issue, myself included.

What does concern me is the fact the seller sells this kit for $89.95 and the actual HID kit itself for $86.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0521213161

So an extra $3 for the headlamps themselves :?

I would sell these as off road usage only tbh, without E-markings they are not road legal.

They are useless here as they will dip the wrong way as they are made for the US market where they drive on the other side of the road. Even when on dipped beam they will be blinding everybody. Also the supplied 8000k bulbs are getting very much towards the blue end of the scale. Most OEM HID bulbs are around 4200k.

I'm sure different bulbs could be supplied. Though as you say the headlamps probably do dip the wrong way. I can't see this group buy going anywhere.....
