I hope that clears it up for everyone. :thumright:

Meh, you'll see no JEFs around these parts. This was a disaster without involving bikes, blown engines or butracer. We make our own catastrophes here, we don't have to import them from elsewhere :thumleft:

Just to let folks know there may be some short (~30 second, upto 5 minutes) downtime this evening as I complete some configuration on the backend database.

Ok - yes, we're dicking about with it at the moment, sorting out the final bunch of stuff.

FWIW we're aware the Garage isn't working properly and are sorting.

OK,

We're aware that due to a network configuration change at our hosting provider, some people may not be have been able to access the site (eg from BT Openzone <edit> and ISPs such as Zen and others using Zen's datacentre) from around midday today, Wednesday 9th.

This is an ongoing issue, but there's nothing we can do at this end (server is working fine) but we have to wait for the dust to settle.

We're also aware of occasional SMTP errors as well when posting messages - we're working on that, and will be making 'adjustments' with an even larger hammer than last time.

if you're reading this after not being able to access the site earlier - welcome back ;)

Lost in the space-time continuum

I guess all this is the reason why I just got an email telling me I have a new PM dated 2006?

Andy, all is working fine and has been for a long time ( more than 1 year ) .

I've been puzzled by your post and have had a nose through the server logs.

The only email that's been sent to you today left our server at 02:48:29 GMT, all looking OK - is this the message you meant?

Could your ISP be finding a few bits of mail that they haven't delivered to you?

OK, now I'm puzzled. I didn't notice that the end of this thread was _exactly_ three years ago, I just checked the day/month bit.

Yes, that's the mail. But the _only_ PM I have is dated Thu 29 Jun 2006 23:01!

Like quite a few of us you may have received a PM that was subsequently deleted by the administrators due to spammage. See this thread or this thread for more info...

:+: That'd be the reason why - spammers have their accounts and all sent PM's deleted

Yeah, but surely looking at the light on the front first (which I'm pretty sure all Dell boxes - even custom built ones - have) before unplugging would've been a good idea? ;)

Speedy wrote:Lets hope its all plain sailing from here :)

Yeah, I'll just shut up now... :-# It'll all be fine... :)

Why do you think it was a dell box? Servers are bitches. They dont always come with a big green light.

Dunno about yours, but all ours have a dirty great PSU fan blowing hot air all over your fingers when you reach for the mains cable... or in most case two fans for two cables!
