Car decided to have a paddy today and the alternator stopped working.

Ah I thought I have one still attached to my N/A engine I will use that.

So I go and take it off and do a comparison, its slightly smaller and the plug is round instead of oval, right I thinks this shall not stop me so I proceded to take the top section of the alternator off and swap it over.

Was a very simply job in the end except the that I had to change the bracket aswell.

Anyway the point of this post is that if your alternator decides to go t1ts up and you can only get your hands on a round plug and yours is oval (or vice versa) dont dispare as they can be swapped easily, just dont try and use a N/A alternator as you will have to swap the bracket over to and thats a PITA.

How to.........

Remove 3 nuts to take cover off.

Remove 4 screws around edge (easy ones)

Remove 4 screws (use a good screw drive as they will round).

The reason I seperated these to section is because the B+ connector was different between the two, may vary depending on type but you will see when you do it what I mean.

Finally I had to cut a small section out of cover to allow room for oval plug.

Good luck.
