I'm sure Jay was referring to track driving !

I can't say I obey speed limits all the time but definitely don't mess in the wet when there's 310 going through the back wheels :D

3 posts and not one giving any real assistance - I thought this was the mechanical forum, not the moral correction forum?

What about if he's running a 1/4 mile strip on a dry sunny day, but a bug squashes on his screen and he want to use the windscreen washers to remove it before he gets to the end?

Or what about if we leave Jay's own driving decisions up to him, and focus on helping with his question?

I get this wiper problem too, and I think there are some UK type wipers or wiper arms which have a spoiler on that gives the wiper a bit of down force.

When my wipers are next up for replacement I'll have a look into this, but the EPC for a rev3 doesn't show anything

Calm down, mate - weren't any bad intentions. Sorry for the post - I'm relatively new to the forum but thought some humour was a norm. Saying that, I wasn't imposing morals - I even said that I speed myself.

Apologies Jay, if I've given the wrong impression.

One top tip for ya:

If you get wiper blades fitted with "wings" there'll be a warning on the pack telling you only to use them on the drivers side. Guess what...
Only use them on the driver side.
If you fit a "wing" wiper blade on the passenger side it can get ripped right off by the air flow around the side of the car. Been there. Done that.
The missus will have to put up with not being able to see properly.

Course, if you're game for a bit of bodgery you could try altering the springs which pull the wipers down. Maybe clip the end off and bend a new hook on the spring?

Mmm :-k

Wonder if that would work?

if you could get more tension in the spring that that should in theory hold the wipers on to the screen with more force. The only problem with that is it may burn the wiper motor out as it will have to work harder to sweep the wipers.......

Take them off that would solve it.... :) if you drive fast enough i find the rain sweeps off the screen by itself

No worries - I was being a bit harsh too - I think the Monday morning must have still been getting to me despite being a bank holiday.

It was just the 3 posts in a row that made me snap.

Personally I think excessive speed in the wet is leathal, and it doesn't seem to have entered most driver's heads that stopping distances have at least doubled (i.e. 4 second + gap on the motorway).

But, I'm sure Jay can look after himself, and good tryres, concentration and a big enough gap should see most people safe at 80 in non-torrential rain.

And I can do humour: "what do you call a man with no ears?

Anything you like".

Oh, actually I can't.

OK I have a similar problem except my wipers lift off the screen at 50 - 60mph.

Does anyone have a really good set of wipers, I have tried two sets champion and some dodgy race-x ones. The champion ones are the worst by a long way and currently fitted they lift off the screen on the return wipe.

Only one is spoilered or vented (driver side).

Anyone got some suggestions on a good make and part no's etc.

Its not the wiper blades, its the wiper mechanism/arm itself so i believe.

It would be interesting to see what revisions are mostly affected by this....it could be something as simple as the springs becoming rusty etc with age....im no expert but im sure it cant be just the wiper blades to blame.
